CANACONA: Acting swiftly, the Calangute Police on Thursday arrested Bollywood actress Poonam Pandey and her husband, film director Sam Bombay, from a starred hotel in Calangute, who is the main accused in the porn video clip that has gone viral on various social media platforms.

South Goa Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS, informed that the couple is arrested under Sections 294 of Indian Penal Code, 67 (A) of IT Act and a police officer of the rank of Police Inspector is investigating the case.
Canacona Police informed that the couple was granted conditional bail by a local court late Thursday evening and has been asked not to leave Goa without the court’s permission. The couple has further been asked to cooperate with the investigation.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant under pressure from civil society suspended Police Inspector and a constable attached to Canacona Police Station over the allegation that the police provided protection for the shooting of a porn video allegedly shot at Chapolim Dam, in Canacona.
Thursday morning at Chaudi town, which is the administrative capital of Canacona Taluka commenced with all shopkeepers keeping their shutters down in support to the Canacona bandh call given by Jagruth Canaconkars, which is spearheading the agitation to seek justice in the infamous Chapolim Dam obscene video case which came to light after it got posted on social media.
Unhappy with the outcome of their meeting with the South Goa Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh on Wednesday, the agitating public on Thursday gathered again outside Deputy Collector’s office and met local MLA amongst other government officials.
After the agitating crowd got the news that the Chief Minister has asked for the suspension of the Canacona police inspector and a constable, the gathered crowd applauded in unison and welcomed the Chief Minister’s decision.
The local MLA and Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes informed the crowd that the Cuncolim Police Inspector Therron D’Souza will hold additional charge of Canacona Police Station and will be the investigation officer.
