Admissions for first year degree courses will be held online

Panjim: This year, the admissions for first year degree programme by the general stream colleges will be held online, through an integrated management system that would be put in place by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE).

Goa University in a circular issued to all affiliated colleges has informed that the process of admissions for the first year for the academic year 2020-21, will commence from July 15 and shall be conducted online. The modalities for conducting the online admissions, however, will be communicated separately to colleges. 

In order to avoid any rush during the admission process, the colleges have also been asked to offer the prospectuses online to the candidates. The colleges are waiting for Goa Board to declare the Class XII result, after which the prospectuses will be made available online. 

The decision has been taken in view of the COVID pandemic. Sources informed that DHE is in the process, of putting in place an online integrated management system for all general stream colleges; which will bring them under one common platform for online admissions. 

The Directorate has already floated tender and has appointed an agency for developing the software, through which the admissions to first year BA, BSc, BCom, BBA and other general streams programmes will be held online. 

Nearly 18,000 students have answered Class XII board examinations conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), held in March and partially in May.
