As the three-month extension granted to 17-member Advisory Committee on Medium of Instruction (MOI) ended over a month back, the committee has approached the government seeking another short tenure to complete the pending task. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who has this subject close to his heart, will be taking a final call to either extend the term or scrap it.
Nearly a week ago, just before the counting and formation of the new government; Director of Higher Education Bhaskar Nayak headed committee referred the matter to the State seeking an extension of around two months to complete meetings in South Goa. “We will take maximum one month to complete the task and submit the report,” he said.
The government had constituted the committee to advise on the issue of grants to English medium schools and to study the entire system of grants, financial support to government aided schools and to improve the overall efficiency for achieving education goals.
