PANJIM, JULY 1
Goa is likely to be a venue for another mega event in the film and television industry with Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) examining the proposal to have Apasara Film and Television Producers’ Guild awards to be held in the State annually.
ESG governing council meeting on Thursday went through the presentation of the proposal by film and television producers’ guild. Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava, Information Secretary Narendra Kumar and others were present for the presentation.
The award function is held in January every year and the guild has proposed that Goa should be a permanent venue for the event.
Sources stated that ESG is likely to give its nod to hold the event.
The council meeting also suggested that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Goa government and Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry over IFFI should be signed once in three years as against the practice of signing it annually.
“We have suggested that MoU be signed once in three years. It’s for the Centre to decide on the issue,” Kamat, who also heads ESG, told reporters after the council meeting.
He said that the draft MoU for IFFI 2010 was finalised during the meeting today and it will be forwarded to Directorate of Film Festival for their nod.
“ESG will shoulder the same responsibilities which it had last year. We will not be taking additional responsibilities this year,” Kamat said.
The meeting also discussed holding workshop for Cinephile members.
