After three days, water supply restored to Malkarnem ward

SANGUEM: After a gap of three days, the water supply to Molcopon ward of Malkarnem Panchayat was finally restored late evening on Wednesday.
The villagers heaved a sigh of relief after the water reached in the village.
The villagers have urged the authorities to replace the old water pipeline in the village at the earliest as it is susceptible for frequent breakdown causing acute water shortage in the village.
The villagers have also demanded reconstruction of the water tank in the village which is on the verge of collapse.
Incidentally, the water was restored in the village only after MLA Prasad Gaonkar along with the villagers warned the water supply department officials of serious consequences if the drinking water in the village is not restored immediately.
Gaonkar had pointed out to the officials of the village being located barely three kilometres from Selaulim Dam and despite its proximity to the dam, the village is denied of proper drinking water supply.
It is pertinent to note here that the issue of lack of water supply in the village came to light only after the women in the village gathered on the main village road with empty vessels to highlight their grievances.
