After ZP by-election loss, Congress vows to take ‘corrective measures’

MARGAO: In the wake of their losses in the recently-held Zilla panchayat by-elections in three constituencies, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said that Congress will take corrective measures to make the party strong, from the grassroots level.

On Wednesday, Congress held an election results review meeting with Davorlim ZP candidate Leoncio Raikar and Cortalim candidate Valent Barbosa. Goa Pradesh Congress President Amit Patkar and senior vice-president M K Shaikh also attended the meeting, which was held at the South Goa District Congress office.  “This is a step towards analysing and strengthening Congress at the grassroots level,” said Patkar.

The meeting was also attended by General Secretaries Subhash Faldessai and Pradip Naik, Capt. Viriato Fernandes, Olencio Simoes, Everson Vales, Orville Dourado Rodrigues, Succor, Peter D’Souza and other functionaries.

M K Shaikh said that they have taken feedback and they will start working from now. “We are confident to take corrective steps and overcome our shortcomings,” said Shaikh.
