MARGAO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday disclosed that he has instructed the Advocate General (AG) to take necessary steps in the Sonsoddo arbitration matter.
“The government is capable of handling the Sonsodo problem. The High Powered Committee has held meetings twice. The matter is in the court; hence, I won’t make any statements of any takeover. All the precautions that have to be taken have been communicated. For the time being, the solutions to be worked out have been told,” the chief minister said.
“We will also inform the court that Fomento hasn’t been able to handle the plant, which has worsened the condition. Hence, we will demand the removal of Fomento and give the plant to Solid Waste Management Corporation. We will employ the best of technology to remove the dump and also use best of the technology to make Margao, which is one of the best and second capital of Goa, free of the problem it is facing,” he said.
When asked whether government would become an intervener in the matter between MMC and Fomento CM said: “I have given instructions to the Advocate General already and he will take the necessary steps.”
