PANJIM: The Tiswadi Mamlatdar has directed the Agasaim police to maintain vigil at the Neura khazans, especially at night to ensure that sluice gate operations are not mismanaged and deliberate flooding of the agricultural fields is not carried out.
According to the sources, the Mamlatdar has written a letter to the Agasaim PI Anant Gaonkar pointing out that such incidents cause grave loss to the farmers who are cultivating the fields.

The direction has been issued following an oral complaint lodged by farmers of Neura-O-Grande and also by taking cognisance of newspaper articles and social media posts.
As a large portion of the Neura khazan continues to be submerged by sluice gate operators for over three months, farmers are worried about the chances of growing the kharif crop this season.
