CANACONA: Agriculture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar inaugurated the first phase of Rs 4 lakh electrical fencing work undertaken at Kuskem, Cotigao, on Tuesday by the Agriculture Department. The total cost of the works is Rs 15 lakh.
The electrical fencing is undertaken to protect cultivations and agricultural produce from wild and other animals who often destroy the plantation and produce.
‘Over 25 hectres of agricultural land in Kuskem will be covered with electrical fencing to protect the crops and other agri-produce from animals often noticed causing destructions in the area’, informed an Agriculture officer.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Dev, Deputy Conservator of Forests Waradkar, Tribal Welfare Department Director Sandhya Kamat, Deputy. Collector Bhandrakant Shetkar, Cotigao Wildlife RFO Vishwanath Pingulkar, Cotigao village sarpanch Meena Gaonkar and others were present at the commencement of the fencing works.
