Air Quality in Porvorim and Panjim Deteriorates to ‘Unhealthy’ Level as AQI Rises to 151

Air quality levels in Porvorim and nearby areas, including Panjim, have deteriorated sharply, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) touching 151 — a level classified as ‘Unhealthy’. The rise in pollution has pushed Panjim to 705th place among the world’s most polluted cities, according to current rankings.

Residents have reported increasing discomfort due to dust and suspended pollutants, with many complaining of breathing difficulties and throat irritation. Environmental observers warn that prolonged exposure to such air quality levels can negatively impact vulnerable sections of the population, including children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions.
