VASCO: South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, who is also Chairman of Dabolim Airport Advisory Committee, on Wednesday, stressed the need for better coordination between all stakeholders and agencies providing services at Dabolim Airport.
He emphasised that with better coordination, Goa can be projected in a better way.
He was speaking to reporters after holding a joint-meeting with all stakeholders at Dabolim Airport in view of forthcoming tourist season. Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, AAI Director B C H Negi, Savio Messias from Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), Transport Director Nikhil Dessai, Herculano Dourado on behalf of airport taxi operators, police and other stakeholders attended the meeting and offered their suggestions for better regulation at the Dabolim Airport.
In today’s meeting there were some suggestions for the streamlining of traffic at Dabolim airport.
, to create congestion-free facilities for airport passengers, he said, adding discussion were also held regarding importance of following ethics and behavioural attitude by taxi drivers, corporation and other facilities required and better coordination between agencies concerned with tourism sector in Goa.
“It was a very fruitful discussion and we hope that many issues raised would be sorted out one by one in a few months. Basically, we have stressed for better coordination between all the agencies so that Goa can be projected in better way to the tourists who land in Goa,” Sawaikar said.
On behalf of TTAG, Messias suggested that AAI should put in measures to make Goa airport as passenger-friendly airport for tourists.
“We suggested for improving taxi services at the airport as passengers have to stand in long queues to book taxis from the airport from one taxi counter. Similarly, we also asked AAI to improve their services inside and outside the airport by making arrangements for taxi booking counters inside and outside the airport,” he said.
It was also suggested that taxi drivers should wear proper uniforms and follow ethics. Another important suggestion made during the meeting was regarding organised parking at the airport, as presently taxis can be seen parked all over the place.
We actually suggested that AAI should make Goa airport like another other disciplined airports in the country, he added.
Taxi operators also made certain demands for facilities such as counter, washroom, parking etc and were assured that all issues would be resolved soon.
