VASCO: It was an unexpected mode of transport for a large number of passengers at the Dabolim airport, as they had to rely on rickshaws, motorcycles and buses for transportation.
The passengers who had arrived by different flights at Dabolim airport had to drag their luggage all the way to the airport as many of them travelled in buses.
As the taxis were off the road, some passengers came by rickshaws while foreign tourists sought the help of their friends to drop them on hired motorcycles.
Speaking to Herald, some Indian tourists stated that they were unaware of the taxi strike and were forced to use the bus service to reach the airport.
“We were forced to walk from the Chicalim junction right up to the airport with our luggage,” complained one tourist.
However, sources among taxi operators at Dabolim airport informed that many taxi operators also own private vehicles and
used them to ferry passengers to their
destinations.
