ALDONA: The roof of a house belonging to Tanuja Jadhav was gutted in fire at Quitla, Aldona on Monday.
The loss is pegged at Rs 1,00,000 approximately and the fire fighters managed to save property worth Rs 30,000.
The Mapusa Fire Station were informed about the fire incident at around 1.34 p.m by a person residing in the vicinity after which the duty crew of Mapusa fire station rushed to the spot along with their water tender. The firefighters doused the fire and stopped it from spreading further.
The articles damaged in the incident were roof tiles, wooden beams, cloth and other household goods.
An official from Mapusa Fire Station revealed that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be investigated. They have written to the Electricity Department to ascertain the cause of fire. The house was closed at the time of the occurrence of the incident.
