PANJIM: The South Goa candidate of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and former Member of Parliament Churchill Alemao, who is also called as mass leader has gained momentum from the voters, which could vote him to Parliament.
Churchill Alemao, who joined TMC recently had given a jolt to main political parties in the state after announcing his candidature and Rajya Sabha MP of TMC Derek O’Brien and deputy mayor of Kolkata (West Bengal) Farzana Alam who campaigned for him Goa has changed the situation, which was in the favour of main political parties.
Joining composer singer Sidhanath Buyao, former ally of MLA Vijai Sardesai and Shalom Sardinha’s election agent too have helped Churcill Alemao to reach to the masses. Sources informed that apart from organising the campaign meeting, Alemao has also campaigned door-to-door and confident of getting the votes those he visited.
Alemao’s public meetings at Vasco, Ponda, Curchorem, Benaulim and Canacona had witnessed large crowds. The people who were associated with Alemao, when he was a PWD minister are seen working hard to get him elected. According to political pundits, Churchill Alemao has his own style of wooing votes, as he has been with the people on several issues.
A recent survey gave put Alemao and BJP candidate Narendra Sawaikar neck and neck in the race.
