PANJIM: Intelligence inputs regarding a possible infiltration by terror outfit Laskhar e Taiba from the West Coast has prompted the Coast Guard to alert the port authorities, Coastal Police, other vessels and other sensitive installations to be on their guard and to take precaution.
Acting on information from the Coast Guard, the Captain of Ports (CoP) on Tuesday sent an advisory to the Fisheries Department and other vessels: “Intelligence input via Goa Coast Guard: Possible LeT infiltration from West Coast India and planning attack. Be alert and take precaution. Advise all concerned. CoP.”
Acting on the advisory, port authorities have kept their launches on standby, while the off-shore casinos in the state are also reported to have been alerted about this advisory.
When contacted, a reliable source at the Coast Guard confirmed having received the intelligence inputs regarding a possible LeT infiltration from the West Coast, which includes Goa’s 105 km coastline.
“This was an intelligence message received to us from the police in Mumbai and we shared this information to everyone concerned in the state,” the source told Herald.
