At the Friday cabinet meeting, Alina along with a Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado had raised apprehensions over the fate of Dabolim airport, once Mopa airport begins operations. Alina had reportedly questioned why the environment impact assessment study was not done before the land acquisition and why no public hearings were held.
Alina insists on written assurances
PANJIM: Late Monday night Herald learnt that Environment and Forest Minister Alina Saldanha has written to the government insisting that it obtain written assurances from the Ministry of Defence and the Airport Authority of India that Dabolim airport will continue as a civilian airport even after operations at Mopa begin.
