VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Saturday slammed the managements of some reputed industrial units in Goa for participating in a private job fair that was held in Sawantwadi, thereby depriving the unemployed Goan youth of job opportunities in the units located in Goa and forcing the Goan youth to seek employment overseas.
“I am shocked that the managements of some of the reputed industrial units in Goa participated in a private job fair that was held in Sawantwadi, depriving the unemployed Goan youth of job opportunities in the units located in Goa thereby forcing the Goan youth to seek employment overseas,” Saldanha said.
“I am also surprised that the industrialists complain that most of their vacancies remain unfilled due to a difference in expectations from both sides. I would like to ask these industrialists, ‘How often you advertise in the Goan dailies for the vacancies that arise in your companies? Are the interviews conducted in their companies made known to the Goan public? Also, is what is offered by the companies as per the minimum wages that will enable the youth to live a decent life?” Saldanha questioned.
