Alleged ‘shadow man’ in MMC responsible for forgery case

Police recover various documents and replies of the MMC pointing towards forgery; MMC say systems hacked by unknown person to procure documents; Cops approach RTO since licence of accused was issued using name change ad from newspaper and court order

The birth certificate forgery case has been taking twists and turns for quite some time now, ever since it came to light. However, some shocking details on how anyone can make a birth certificate by fooling authorities is now coming to the fore. The case which looked like an identity theft is now becoming a clear case of forgery of various documents.
While the MMC is likely to submit the details on the Birth Certificate forgery case, there are details surfacing about how the alleged accused Renuka, now Reeta got her birth certificate from the MMC in 2015. The MMC had constituted an inquiry into the matter and it has been nearly a month since the case surfaced. The MMC has been visited by the police several times and the police have recovered various documents and replies of the MMC which are pointing towards a case of forgery.
It is learned from the MMC that in a reply to the police, the council claimed that there is no application or inward or any paper requesting the non-availability certificate. The non-availability certificate is generally provided by the MMC births section to facilitate a person to seek the details of his birth from institutions like churches or otherwise. The absence of an application for the certificate in the MMC and Renuka still managing to produce it to the court and church makes it evident that there has been a forgery of documents and a deeper possibility of forgery of signatures of the related officer by the alleged accused.
The MMC has also informed the police that their systems were accessed by some unknown persons by hacking the password and were used to execute this work. The MMC has also deciding to file a police complaint on the same. The Chief Officer of the MMC, Y B Tawde told Herald, “The report has been drafted by the ATO of MMC with all the details and will be tabled before me on Wednesday. The report was initially asked to be sent last Friday. But because I was on leave, it didn’t reach me. Statements of various sections of the MMC have been taken and the report has been compiled.”
Internal sources in the MMC said that there is a shadow man in the council who is spearheading these illegal operations. Herald has already reported how the case has been complicated by the absence of CCTVs in the premises. “The computerisation of the MMC was planned in the past and almost executed. However, it did not take off for several reasons. If computerisation was in place, this could have been avoided,” the Chief Officer said.
Meanwhile, Herald also visited the Road Transport Office (RTO) and discussed the issue with the staff. It is known that alleged accused Renuka’s drivers licence application had come with the xerox copy of the name change add on the newspaper. The application came with an advocate who came with a court order asking the authority to issue the licence. “The man who accompanied the accused told us to go ahead and issue the licence because there was a court order. He said nothing is above a court order,” said an RTO insider. It is also heard that the alleged accused has made a move to cancel the licence.
While speaking to the RTO Assistant Director Prakash Kholkar, he said, “This is before my tenure started but according to documents on record, there is a court order directing the RTO to issue the licence to the said person. The court is Supreme and has to be obeyed at all times.”
