MARGAO: The 129th Birth Anniversary of Baba Ambedkar was celebrated today in an extremely subdued manner thanks to the lockdown in force.
The South Goa District Congress Committee had a function in the office where floral tributes were offered to a portrait of Ambedkar with Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat as the chief guest and a pledge was read at the end.

Others present were ex-minister Aleixo Sequeira, SGDCC President Joseph Dias, PCC member Subash Faldessai, treasurer Peter Gomes and vice president Yesmane D’Souza.
The Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Social Committee at Margao also observed Ambedkar Jayanti by garlanding his statue at Curchorem and also the one near Ganapati temple at Shantinagar in Navelim.
