MARGAO: Ambelim gram sabha on Sunday questioned the panchayat body over the resolution passed at last gram sabha asking ward members to prepare a detailed list of migrants in the village.
The members were informed by Sarpanch Loreta Silva who presided over the gram sabha and Deputy Sarpanch Tyron Fernandes that the decision to have been taken so that the village panchayat could have a record of migrants residing in the village.
In view of the recent disaster at Cuncolim, the villagers of Ambelim expressed apprehension and demanded a disaster management plan for the village. They were informed that necessary infrastructure is required for such an activity and that the panchayat would maintain list of people in village having any infrastructure need and inform the collector about the same so that it could be made available in case of need.
The gram sabha members also were informed that the village panchayat on account of paucity of funds was dependent on PWD for development of roads.
The gram sabha resolved to issue NOC to the family of late freedom fighter Roque Santan Fernandes for having a children park in land identified by them provided that the high tension electricity line is shifted and the park which family claimed would be built from MP fund would also be maintained by the family.
