A controversy has erupted in Taleigao after Congress leader Adv. Amit Palekar alleged that an electricity meter was installed on a public footpath to supply power to a commercial vehicle. Calling it a misuse of public space, Palekar questioned how the connection received official approval, claiming the meter lacked departmental seals and was secured with a private padlock. He also alleged double standards, noting that local Goan vendors were removed while a new commercial operator was granted power access. Palekar has demanded an official inquiry into the installation’s legality and compliance with technical norms.
