The ammonia leak in Quality Foods, a fish meal plant in Cuncolim South Goa, happened at about 10 am this morning. There were workers in the factory. When the leak was detected, evacuation took place.
Next to Quality foods is the factory of Tap Tools which makes equipment. Its workers who were sleeping after a night shift didn’t notice ammonia fumes coming into their factory. Tragedy struck when one Kishan Kumar died while four are admitted at Hospicio hospital. His body is sent for postmortem.
