Anand Pal murder: wife, paramour convicted

MARGAO: The accused Kaushalya Kumar and Lalsa Pal in marine engineer Anand Pal’s murder on July 15, 2011, were convicted on Friday by Additional Sessions Judge P V Savaikar.

The hearing for point of sentence has been kept on June 15. Wife of Anand Pal, Lalsa Pal and her paramour Kaushalya Kumar have been held guilty for planning the murder. The final arguments were held on Wednesday and the blood samples from the pant of Kaushalya Kumar and the hair on the wooden log which was used to murder Anand Pal was the evidence proving that Lalsa Pal had allowed Kaushalya Kumar in and they both plotted the murder.
The Public Prosecutor Subhash Dessai had argued that the test of the blood samples collected from the pants of Kaushalya Kumar and the hair that was found on the wooden log used in the murder matched the DNA of Anand Pal. Kaushalya Kumar was also found loitering in the area of Anand Pal’s house.
The defence contention was that robbers killed Anand Pal and took away the gold from the house which was later found with Lalsa. The Public Prosecutor argued that the whole story of robbery is fabricated and the truth is that Lalsa opened the door for Kaushalya and they committed the murder.
