CHIMBEL: The gram sabha meeting of Chimbel village panchayat took a chaotic turn when Sarpanch Sandesh Shirodkar abruptly adjourned the meeting, causing commotion among the attendees.
The panchayat body had attempted to present administrative reports and development proposals for discussion and approval. However, the members of the gram sabha objected, questioning the Sarpanch and Secretary about the absence of detailed documents related to the agenda on the Panchayat website.
Shirodkar explained that a technical glitch prevented the documents from being uploaded online.
In response, the members suggested that hard copies be provided instead. Despite their demand, Sarpanch adjourned the meeting without announcing the date and time for the next session, leaving the members furious and unwilling to leave. It was later conveyed to them that the meeting would be held on June 4.
Shirodkar clarified, “I didn’t adjourn the meeting abruptly. Some members of the gram sabha suggested that we should present all documents to them, and so I decided to adjourn the meeting for now. We will provide all the documents in the next meeting.”
