PANJIM: Anjuna-Caisua Panchayat has alleged there are rampant illegalities in their jurisdiction to save structures from being demolished. With no action taken on their complaints, the panchayat has decided to petition the Prime Minister’s Office.
Deputy Sarpanch Savio Almeida said that owners of structures in the No Development Zone (NDZ) have, in connivance with government officers, forged Panchayat NOCs and made entries in the Gut Book to legalise them. He said that ‘Curlies Shack’ is one among those that have converted an illegal structure to legal by altering government records.
“Government officers, right from the Talathi to Deputy Collector, are in connivance with establishment owners to forge and alter government records,” Almeida said.
He demanded a thorough probe in the complaint filed before the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) and also demanded that Crime Branch probe the individuals and government officers.
“We have been following the fraud with different government authorities, complained to ACB, Crime Branch, etc, but no concrete action has been initiated till now,” Almeida said.
Anjuna-Caisua Panchayat confirmed that Curlies shack is illegal and has been made legal by altering, forging and misrepresenting records.
“We have decided to approach the Prime Minister’s Office. We will petition PMO seeking his intervention to save the beautiful coast of Anjuna,” Sarpanch Pratima Govekar said.
