Anjuna locals flip the argument, want justice for locals

ANJUNA: Residents of Anjuna have demanded justice for the local youths arrested by the police in the tourist assault case.

The villagers alleged that tourists incited the fight. But police registered FIR based on complaint filed by tourists but no counter FIR was filed on the basis of complaint by local youths.

Villagers have demanded the police should file an FIR within eight days, else the villagers will resort to protests.

“After this incident, this particular tourist family has portrayed that tourists are not safe in Goa as local goons had attacked them. They fabricated the video and showed one sided incident. Royston Dias (one of the accused in the case) is a local boy, working as a receptionist at the said hotel, who was only doing his duty,” the villagers said.

“Tourists should enjoy in Goa and leave. Goa is a peaceful state and we don’t want it to become like Delhi,” Sarpanch Laxmidas Chimulkar said.
