Anjuna villagers to protest CRZ dilemma, businesses to shut today

ANJUNA: The villagers of Anjuna have announced plans to stage a peaceful protest at Starco Junction, Anjuna, on Monday, February 19, to draw attention to the State’s failure to address the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) issue adequately. This ongoing problem has caused immense mental and physical distress to the villagers, prompting them to come together and demand action from the authorities, they say.

In a display of solidarity, all business establishments in Anjuna have pledged to remain closed in support of the villagers’ cause. This protest comes after a High Court order mandating the closure and demolition of 175 restaurants, which is expected to strain the community economically.
