PANJIM: Hindustan Unilever Limited recalled 950 kgs of Knorr range of noodles on Saturday, raising the total recall across Goa to 2,200 kgs on day two of the State Food and Drugs Administration’s (FDA) order.
FDA Director Salim Veljee confirmed that company stockists have withdrawn all variants of Knorr noodles from various food outlets in Panjim, Mapusa, Vasco, Bicholim, Sanquelim, Valpoi, Ponda, Shiroda and Margao.
“The cumulative total recall of Knorr noodles in the last two days (Friday-Saturday) has been recorded at 2,200 kgs,” he said emphasizing that FDA’s order is based on directives issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) that observed the products failed to obtain product approval on safety. “We are monitoring the compliance of FSSAI orders in Goa,” the director said.
Meanwhile, FDA officials are keeping a watch to ensure that Maggi noodles are off the shelves. 10,000 kgs have been recalled which will be destroyed in presence of FDA officials.
