PANJIM: One of six accused in the activist Vilas Methar murder case, Khayyad Shaikh has been granted bail by the High Court of Bombay at Goa. He is the second accused after Shailesh Shetty to be granted conditional bail.
On October 15, 2020 Methar had succumbed to serious burn injuries a day after he was burnt alive by two unidentified persons. They were later identified as Prashant Dabolkar from Anjuna and Pawan Badigar from Mapusa, who had crossed the State border despite a pan-Goa search.
Three days after the incident, the special teams formed by the North District Police arrested five persons including the two and real estate businessman Shetty.
Over half a dozen teams headed by Police Inspectors of their respective police stations and Crime Branch were on a hunt for the accused.
