MAPUSA: Colvale police have arrested one Yogesh Pagi resident of Canacona in connection with drugs case in which initially jail guard Suraj Gaude was arrested four days back.
A trap was laid on Friday night and alleged accused Yogesh Pagi was nabbed from Agonda, Canacona and placed under arrest.

As per SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi during interrogation with the arrested jail guard it was revealed that the drugs were meant for under trial prisoner Vikat Bhagat resident of Canacona and the said drugs were given to the jail guard by one Yogesh Pagi. The undertrial prisoner was in touch with Pagi.
“Pagi has confessed his involvement in the crime. We have got enough evidence to connect Pagi with this crime of drugs smuggling into the jail. Now we will interrogate Pagi and then go for next level of investigation,” Dalvi said.
Police have also sought the custody of Vikat Bhagat through transfer warrant.
Further investigation is in progress with PI Somnath Majik under supervision of SP Shobiit Saxena IPS and SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi.
It may be recalled that during a routine checking under Police Inspector Sushant Joshi, the jail guard Suraj was found to be in possession of suspicious substance. The staff of Colvale Police Station along with the Executive Magistrate of Bardez proceeded to the jail premises and took body search of accused and seized the substance which upon verifying was found to be cocaine.
The seized cocaine was weighed five grams.
An offence under Sections 21(b) of NDPS Act has been registered and the accused person has been arrested.
The entire operation was a result of constant briefing and surveillance by police and team over the jail staff.
