Another property dispute reported

PORVORIM: Barely a day after a woman and her mother-in-law were murdered in St Cruz following a suspected feud over family property, another struggle over family wealth has come to light with a woman from Duler-Mapusa accusing her daughter and her husband of stealing her gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh.

PORVORIM: Barely a day after a woman and her mother-in-law were murdered in St Cruz following a suspected feud over family property, another struggle over family wealth has come to light with a woman from Duler-Mapusa accusing her daughter and her husband of stealing her gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh.
Mapusa police on Tuesday arrested a woman and her husband on charges of stealing the gold ornaments belonging to her mother.
Maria Rocha e Lobo from Duler-Mapusa complained that her daughter Edna Mendonsa and son-in-law, Valerian, had admitted her in a private hospital in Mapusa on July 3, following an ailment.
The complainant further stated that when she was in the hospital, she had handed over keys of the house to her daughter Edna to look after the house. However, when she was discharged from the hospital on July 23, she found gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh missing from the cupboard.
The gold ornaments comprised bangles, earrings,  chains, crosses, finger rings, earrings of daughter-in-law and many broken gold items,Police further informed that when the mother confronted her daughter, she failed to give a satisfactory reply. 
Maria filed a police complaint against her daughter and son-in-law. After conducting inquiry, Mapusa police arrested Edna and her husband Valerian on Tuesday and is investigating the case.
