Another virus case in Agonda

CANACONA: Yet another Agonda resident on Saturday tested positive for COVID-19 taking the tally of coronavirus cases to nine in Canacona The family member of the infected Agonda woman, on Saturday tested positive for the infection.

Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) informed that five patients have recovered so far with 4 active cases now.

Health Officer Dr Vandhana Desai informed that of the total swab samples collected from the close family members of the persons tested positive for COVID-19 only one report came positive taking the total tally of cases in the taluka to 9 till Saturday.

“Out of nine persons, the five, who tested positive earlier, were admitted to COVID-19 hospital. They got cured and are now home quarantined,” Dr Desai said.

“The last person tested positive for the Coronavirus infection on Saturday has been admitted to MPT Hospital in Vasco,” Dr Desai said.

“The swabs of the elderly persons, who came in contact with the COVID-19 patients, were collected from their residences, while those of others were collected at the health centre. The swabs have been sent for examination”, Dr Desai added.

The detection of 4 COVID-19 cases the Agonda villagers have gone for a seven-day voluntary lockdown till next Saturday.

“All the shops and establishments in the village downed their shutters for the entire day,” informed Agonda Sarpanch Pramod Faldesai.

“At an emergency meeting on Saturday we have decided to be with the people in their demand for the voluntary lockdown,” Faldesai said.
