MARGAO: A team of Margao Municipal Council has continued the anti- encroachment drive and on Friday cleared the encroachment on the pathways near the Bolshe Circle in Gogol, Fatorda.
MMC seized various goods worth around Rs 10,000 that obstructed pedestrians on the footpath.
This is the third day of the anti-encroachment drive and the team had earlier removed a large extended structure of a restaurant in Borda.
The team removed encroachments of Krishna Hotel, a car accessories shop and a hotel in Borda on Monday.
However, when MMC went to remove coconut and coconut oil vendors near the Ped in Margao early on Friday morning, the vendors expressed surprise over the action saying they have been selling their produce at the spot for decades.
They also said that Goans were removed and the non-Goan vendors were allowed to continue vending in similar conditions.
