Anti-IT Park activists threaten to move court

PANJIM: Anti-IT Park activists in Chimbel have threatened to file a petition in the High Court challenging the proposed park in the village. The anti-park movement led by Chimbel Gramseva Kala Ani Sanskrutik Manch also warned it would take to the streets if it does not roll back the project.
“We are not objecting to the IT Park, but the location. We do not want the project in Chimbel because it will destroy the sanctity of the village, including the environment. If government does not heed to our demand despite repeated opposition to the park in the village, we will launch a protest on the streets and also move the High Court seeking its intervention to stall the project,” Manch President Gurudas Shirodkar said on Monday.
Backed by activists and villagers, Shirodkar slammed the Chimbel panchayat’s claim that the gram sabha on Sunday resolved in favour of the project. “There was no resolution in favour of the IT Park in Chimbel. In fact the agenda for the gram sabha had no mention of IT Park,” he said.
