MARGAO, FEB 3
Additional Sessions Judge Vijaya Pol on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail application of Rashikant Gauns, who was wanted by the police in connection with the headless body murder case.
While rejecting the application, Judge Pol said the crime is most heinous where a young person has been murdered by a group of people and his head severed.
The Judge said there is nothing on record to show that the police want to arrest the application due to some political rivalry or due to some influence or pressure.
“Case papers show that the arrest of the accused is sought not with the object of to humiliate him by arresting him”, the Judge said, adding that there is sufficient material on record to prima facie suggest the involvement of the applicant in the crime, which is heinous in nature.
“Prejudice would be caused to free, fair and full investigations of the crime if anticipatory bail is granted to the applicant,” the judge said, while rejecting the anticipatory bail application in the interest of justice.
