MARGAO: Fatorda Police on Sunday nabbed five more persons involved in the murderous attack on history sheeter Anwar Shaikh alias ‘Tiger’. However, two other accused including the one who fired a gunshot at him are still absconding.
The police received information that the assailants were hiding in Kolhapur and accordingly, two police teams were sent to Maharashtra. One of the teams succeeded in arresting five persons with the help of Kolhapur Police and Kolhapur Crime Branch.
The five accused who were arrested in Kolhapur include 32-year-old Imran Bepari, a resident of Santa Cruz, 31-year-old Vijay Karbotkar, a resident of Porvorim, 37-year-old Harshvardhan Sawal, a resident of Mapusa, 40-year-old Sudhan D’Costa, a resident of Seraulim and 37-year-old Mahinder alias Mayur Tanawade, a resident of Porvorim.
The five accused were brought to Fatorda Police Station late Sunday evening. Further questioning and investigation is on.
Incidentally, Velly D’Souza, who reportedly fired a gunshot at Anwar, is still at large and the gun used in the attack has not yet been recovered though the police found the bullet shell. Police are also on the lookout for Amir Gawande.
