MARGAO: Aquem Baixo Sarpanch Siddesh Bhagat in a letter to the Power Minister has pleaded for upgrading the transformers in the village as the erratic power supply is causing a lot of problems to the people particularly children, who are currently at home, on vacations.
Pointing out that the transformers have not been upgraded for the last several years, he said, “The Electricity Department officials’ standard reply is power failure is due to drawing of more power, as the number of connections, have increased manifold.”
He also said that irregular supply from the Xeldem Power Station adds to their woes and lamented that while the department is prompt to disconnect power supply when bills are not paid, it is woefully slow in upgrading work and one estimate takes about a year to be prepared.
While reposing faith in Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, he said, “He was confident that realising the problems faced by the people particularly the senior citizens the minister will provide some relief.”
