Archbishop blesses foundation stone for Loutolim Sadan

Archbishop of Goa, Filipe Neri Ferrao on Wednesday blessed the foundation stone for the renovation structure of the Shanti Avedna Sadan at Loutolim.
The Shanti Avedna which has taken care of terminally ill patients for the last 24 years is approaching its silver jubilee next year.
The Archbishop was the celebrant of the thanksgiving mass and also welcomed the new Sisters, followed by blessing of the foundation stone and an audio visual presentation of the Sadan.
Administration Superior of the Avedna, Sr Valsa Kumblankal said the Avedna has been taking care of the terminally ill patients since the last 24 years and is approaching its Silver Jubilee year next year.
She said the Avedna is presently housing 11 patients and the capacity of the premises after the renovation work would touch 35 patients.
A Founder Managing Trustee of Shanti Avedna Luzitano D’Souza told Herald that the Trust has been running three sadans in India, including the one at Loutolim for the benefit of the terminally ill patients.
He said that the service to the patients is totally free of cost and terminally ill patients are admitted in the house irrespective of caste and creed.
