Archbishop calls upon parents to protect children from unhealthy media

PANJIM: Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao on Sunday cautioned on the kind of content available on various media, and how difficult it is for parents to ensure their children watching learn the right things.
“It is especially hard for parents to guard their children from unhealthy and even harmful messages and ensure that their learning of the world comes about in a way that is appropriate to their age and sensibility and their developomf sense of values,” Archbishop Ferrao said.
He was speaking at the inaugural of the CCRTV – Catholic Charismatic Renewal TV on Sunday evening.
“In these circumstances it is very important to have television channels and other media that deal with religious and spiritual aspirations and produce programmes that are morally uplifting and help people live better lives,” he said, welcoming the new channel.
The new television channel, which is not for profit, will focus on telecasting Catholic content from Goa. CCRTV’s content will all be locally created. On a daily basis there will be the rosary, mass, holy hour, besides other spiritual and religious programmes.
Stating that the new TV channel stales for God and His Church, Archbishop Ferrao said, the Television channel that “promises to be an effective vehicle of the good news of salvation of Jesus Christ in a world that seems to be walking away from it.”
He said that Catholics must make use of the modern means of communication to convey God’s love.
