Archbishop exhorts imbibing of Christmas spirit and attitude

MARGAO: “We should imbibe Christmas spirit and attitude in our everyday life and not only during the period of Advent or Christmas,” said Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao while addressing the Christmas Fiesta for South Goa held at Ravindra Bhavan on Tuesday.
He related three incidents to explain what is Christmas spirit and two of them were from the life of St Theresa of Calcutta where she had said that she saw Jesus in the lepers she attended to and the other being when she accepted the whole day’s earnings of a beggar who had come to offer it to her.
“Understanding other people and reaching out to them is true Christmas spirit,” he said.
Earlier chief guest of the function Vandana Rao the director of Education shared her experiences with the gathered students and teachers. She said practice and perseverance will get one the goal, cultivating a co-curricular activity will help one to relax and requested all to limit the time spent on social media.
Christmas Fiesta was organized by Diocesan Society of Education in collaboration with Directorate of Art and Culture and featured eight programmes presented by schools from Sanguem, Quepem, Salcete and Canacona talukas.
