MARGAO: A demanded has been made by a Sao Jose de Areal villager for a full time secretary in the village.
In a letter to the Director of Panchayats, Menino Santana Fernandes said that after an accident on November 5, Secretary Srirang Agrasani has been on leave. Since then, he said, the panchayat has been functioning without a secretary.
Presently, the panchayat is being administered by another secretary in addition to his own duty. Due to this the works of the people are pending for a long time, he said, and demanded that a regular secretary be appointed to the panchayat.
Fernandes also complained that Agrasani deliberately misinterprets applications made under the Right to Information Act to avoid giving information thereby causing a lot of hardship to people while at the same time protecting and shielding the illegalities committed by the panchayat.
