MARGAO: A group of citizens from Cuncolim on Monday welcomed the proposed National Institute of Technology (NIT) project in the village, saying the institute will add value and will make it a hub of world-class education.
While making an impassioned plea to those opposing the project to reconsider their stand and support the project, the citizens have urged the government, authorities concerned, including NIT officials to hold a debate with a cross section of the society in order to remove their misconceptions, if any, about the project.
Addressing the media, two-time former MLA Arecio D’Souza said that majority of the people of Cuncolim are supporting the NIT project, adding that only a handful of people have expressed their opposition to the institute.
