Around 11,500 students vie for first year degree general seats in 35 colleges

Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) assures seats to every applicant

PANJIM: Around 11,500 out of 18,085 students, who cleared Class XII board exam this year, have enrolled for admissions in 35 Government and Aided Colleges for the first-year degree programme in general streams for the academic year 2021-22.  

The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) had conducted the first round of online admissions through a Common Platform from July 20 till August 3.

The online admissions were for Government and Aided Colleges under DHE’s administrative control offer a spectrum of courses including BA, BCOM, BSC, BCA, BBA, LLB, Music, Home Science, BSC/B.Ed, BA/BE.d and several others.

DHE deputy director Mahadev Gawas said that through the portal, students have applied to three colleges of their choices across Goa.

“As many as 11,500 candidates have enrolled for admissions in the first round,” Gawas said. 

The Merit List will be declared by the respective colleges on August 10 and the admission counseling will start from August 11. 

Gawas said that once the merit list is out, the DHS will conduct analysis of the number of seats vacant and accordingly open admissions for the second round. “We will ensure that all the students are accommodated,” he said.
