CALANGUTE: Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Cleophas Fernandes inspected various monsoon-related works, which are being undertaken in the village, including work on the Arpora Bridge in view of the fast approaching monsoon.
Fernandes visited the site of a nullah near the Arpora Bridge, where heavy machinery is involved in cleaning the waterways of Arpora. The work is being carried out through the WRD. The sarpanch also enquired about the ongoing works of the Arpora Bridge which could even flood the area if the contractor fails to meet the deadline to complete the pillar works as soon as possible. Fernandes urged the labourers to complete the works as soon as possible.
“Though we had taken up monsoon-related works much early, a few nullahs had remained which have been taken up with the help of Minister for Water Resources Dayanand Mandrekar and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo,” Fernandes told Herald. “Each panchayat member is requested to see the developmental works in his or her ward, but I am duty bound to oversee the development works. The completion of monsoon-related works before the rain is very much important, as all the good work done may go waste if it starts raining.”
