MARGAO: There’s more trouble in store for Sanguem Mamlatdar Anish Prabhudessai who was arrested by the Colva police last week.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Margao Ajit Panchwadkar has issued an arrest warrant against the Sanguem mamlatdar for his failure to appear before him on Monday.
Prabhudesai was released by the SDM on Friday last on a condition that the police produce him before the SDM’s court on Monday morning. However, when the matter came up before SDM Panchwadkar this morning, the mamlatdar was conspicuous by his absence, prompting the SDM to issue an arrest warrant, with directions to the Colva police to produce the mamlatdar before the court on April 2.
Incidentally, while the Sanguem mamlatdar failed to appear before the SDM’s court, sources in the know said the Colva police too were conspicuous by their absence when the matter came up for hearing.
Prabhudesai was arrested by the Colva police on Friday last in connection with the assault on Domnick Furtado, a resident of Navelim, at a restaurant at Colva.
