PANJIM: The Children’s Court Friday adjourned the anticipatory bail hearing of the teacher who is now alleged to have committed rape, to Monday.
The matter was adjourned after the defense sought time for arguments.
An art teacher from a government school, Kannaiya Naik, in his mid-30s is accused of raping his 14 year old student, at his Ribandar flat, on December 29, 2011.
Panjim police after dilly-dallying with the matter for six days, booked him for molestation and the accused immediately landed in the hospital bed, from where he applied for anticipatory bail.
The medical report issued of the girl showed that she was sexually assaulted after which the police added section 376 (rape) of IPC to the FIR.
