Arrests of more drug peddlers imminent

PANJIM: A few more drug peddlers could find themselves in the anti-drug agency’s net as those arrested have begun spilling the beans on the lethal mafia operating across the State.

Shack owner Hemant Sah alias Maharaj, Nigerian national Ugochukwu Solomon Ubabuko and John Infinity alias David from Congo are being interrogated by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), after being found with a massive quantity of drugs in their possession. 

Sah, owing a beach shack in Morjim was traced after his accomplices Anuj Keswani and Regal Mahakaal, involved in supplying drugs to actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik had confessed to NCB Mumbai that Sah was a major supplier of LSD and charas. 

During a raid at his Miramar residence on March 7, the NCB Goa and Mumbai teams recovered 15 blots of LSD (commercial quantity) and charas 30 grams, following which he was arrested.

While no further Bollywood link has come to the fore, sources said the trio’s interrogation could lead to more arrests of peddlers actively involved in the drug trade. Sah, on Tuesday was remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the District & Sessions Court.

NCB will also seek assistance of Goa Police for local inputs and related-information sharing purpose. 

Meanwhile, Prasad Walke from Goa , wanted by the NCB continues to be on the run.
