PANJIM: With BJP ministers falling sick, Aam Admi Party (AAP) has suggested that their respective charge be handed over to others in the government or the Governor should dissolve the government.
The party’s State unit also said it is normal for any government servant to fall sick but in such a case a provision is made for a doctor to recommend rest from work for a specified period. “In Goa however with key functionaries falling sick, it was required to avail sick leave from work for faster recovery. Their health was important to the people and hence these sevaks must take rest by either handing charge to others or the whole government must be rested by the governor as governance had gone for a toss,” AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes said on Wednesday.
The party again took a pot shot at the government for allowing extensions to several government officers while youngsters, though eligible, are finding it difficult to get a government job.
Gomes stated they are concerned over indiscriminate service extensions granted to selected persons while the government has not responded to its challenge to declare the number of ‘grandpas’ and ‘grandmas’ enjoying extension in service post retirement. The government has conceded that no one has the correct information about such extensions. Gomes said the information was also not being shared because there were many close relations of ministers and hence had become lifelines to the functioning of the ministers themselves.
