ASSAGAO: To curb the increasing number of thefts and chain snatching incidents in Assagao, social activists and villagers have called upon the Anjuna Police to carry out heavy patrolling in the village.
Social activist Dattaram Pednekar, vice president of North Goa District Congress Committee Chandan Mandrekar along with villagers met Anjuna PI Suraj Gawas requesting the police to take necessary steps to curb the increasing number of crimes.
Stating that there has been a rise in the number of thefts and chain snatching incidents in Assagao, Mandrekar said, “Several thefts and gold snatching incidents have been reported in the village wherein unknown persons directly commit these crimes. These people come on bikes by covering their faces with a helmets and masks especially late evening. There is a need for heavy patrolling to stop such crimes in the village”.
A villager said, ”Unknown persons are moving in the village. Chain snatching and small thefts are reported but there are chances that these culprits may break into our houses or shops. Heavy police patrolling is needed as these persons may cause harm to the public.”
