PERNEM: Pernem police arrested Assam native for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.
Pernem police said that the mother of the victim girl, natives of Orissa and presently residing in a rented room at Dangui Nagar, Dhargal, filed a complaint alleging that Dhiraj Saikia (20), who stays in her neighbourhood sexually assaulted her 11-year-old daughter.
The accused was allegedly sexually assaulting the minor girl since May 2019, however, the offence came into light when the victim girl disclosed about it to an NGO member who had visited her school during an awareness programme.
The accused has been arrested under Sections 342, 376, 376(3) of Indian Penal Code and Section 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act and Sections 4, 8, 12 of POCSO Act.
